These are the slides and supporting documents used in Cranfield University's one-hour DMP webinar. (It's also run as a workshop in expanded format, see links.) The audience is both doctoral students and research staff.

Workshop overview: Before starting to collect/create data during a research project, it is important to have a data management plan (DMP) in place, as good preparation ensures you will manage your data most efficiently. Doctoral students are required to create a DMP and most research councils require a DMP to be submitted with grant proposals; Cranfield University policy requests that all research projects use a DMP.

This webinar talks you through the required content of a DMP with time in each section for you to begin drafting your own content and ask questions.

Intended learning outcomes (ILOs)
After attending the session attendees will be able to:
• explain what a data management plan is;
• summarise why a DMP is important;
• list data management elements to consider when writing a DMP;
• find further help and support.

These map to sub-domains C1 and D2 of the RDF.

Version 3: the updated set of slides for 2018, when we moved from using a Word template to DMPonline.

Version 4: annual update for 2019.
